Reading At Night By David Ignatow (1914-1997)

what have I learned that can keep me
from the simple fact of my quitting?
None of the ideas I read stay
with me for long, I find the dark
closed in about me as I close
the book and I hurry to open it
again to let its light shine
on my face.

  2. I hate putting down a good book, it needs to be opened and read. I love your poem today.

  3. I have to agree with Gigi; a good book is hard to put down and sometimes when I get to the end and give that sigh of satisfaction, not because it ended the way I wanted, but because it gave me more to think about, I realize POOP it's 6:30 a.m. and it's time for me to go to work and I never even got to go to bed. LOL!
Good read and thanks so much for sharing with us. Have a blessed weekend!
