MEMORIAL DAY by Malcolm Eric Koru

A time for picnics, time off work -
Vacations and the "Indy" -
A holiday, too often times
We forget what, it should be.

A time to pay respect to those
Who rallied to the battle cry -
Who gave their lives for liberty -
Those freedoms for you and I.

Such a waste of brave young souls -
Some still struggling through their youth
Who faced and fell willingly
Before wartime's awful truth.

So as we share this holiday
With our friends or family -
Take a moment to give thanks to
Those who died so we'd stay free.

Let us strive for world peace -
For the end of greed and hate -
For next time, after "the war"
It just may be too damned late.

A minute of silence for peace by Kariuki Samuel Mutiga

Make room for silence
This sirens.........
of this... -and that...ambulance
make no sense.
A little bit of diligence
to lobby for peace-in brilliance..
-we are humans-not aliens
Peace for violence
-Peace for violence?
Yes-peace clothed in resilience

Do Some Exercise! Music and Angelo Natalie and David Sparks Lyrics by David Sparks

Do Some Exercise!

Music and Angelo Natalie and David Sparks
Lyrics by David Sparks
© 2000 Shimbaree Music (ASCAP)

I like to wiggle, wiggle, wiggle my fingers,
Like to wiggle, wiggle, wiggle my toes,
I like to stretch my arms up in the air,
Then swing them to and fro.

I like to bend so low and touch the ground,
I like to twist and spin around and round,
I like to reach so high up to the sky,
I like to do some exercise!
I like to do some exercise!

I like to hop, hop, hop on my two feet,
I like to hop, hop, hop all around.
I like to tumble and dance and have some fun,
Like a funny circus clown.

I like to bend so low and touch the ground,
I like to twist and spin around and round,
I like to reach so high up to the sky,
I like to do some exercise!
I like to do some exercise!

I like to tap, tap, tap, tap on my tummy,
Like to tap, tap, tap it like a drum.
I like to jump and bounce and skip and hop,
Exercise is so much fun!

I like to bend so low and touch the ground,
I like to twist and spin around and round,
I like to reach so high up to the sky,
I like to do some exercise!
I like to do some exercise!

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle my fingers,
Hop, hop, hop on my two feet,
Tap, tap, tap, tap on my tummy,
And do some exercise!

Words to Mom When I Was a Teen by Vinayak Pablo Dunand

I wish I could let you know, Mom
How much you mean to me
But words can't even begin to
Make you really see

How much I really love you, Mom
How much I hold you dear
And I won't even think about
Life without you here

Ours is a hard relationship
But no matter how odd
There's respect, caring, and loyalty
And love, given to us by God

And as I'm writing this poem, Mom
The tears stream down my face
And I think about our past, Mom
And words I can't erase

But even though the scars stay put
They can heal over, with the years
And we can grow together, once again
And wipe away our tears

The sadness that you feel, Mom
It's not right, it's not good
Cause there's no one like you, Mom
I wish you understood

You feel you don't accomplish things
But it really seems to me
That what you do for others
Are things that you can't see

Do you look at understanding?
Can kindness and caring be measured?
And all the things that mean so much
Can they be added up and treasured?

No, life is a test not written down
And the scores cannot be seen
But that doesn't make it less important
For to God, what do accomplishments mean?

Wonderful Mother By Allen Igal Szleifer

Google.com

Wonderful Mother

God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He molded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.

My Peace by Brenda Cosgrove Stein

Peace is here for me
My peace is all I have
Never letting the waves
Make me fall
I stand tall
To all
My peace is my comfort
Never again will
My peace go away
It is the calm in the sea
That makes me see
How God is peace

His peace for me
Is my description
Of God's control
He controls the flow
Of time
He controls the current
Of wind
He controls the energy
Of my mind and the
Level of my peace
All that is his is his
Even my peace
Which is my present ability
I am at peace with
God and I am at peace
With myself
I am calm
